Joint Technology Initiatives & European Technology Platforms

European Technology Platforms (ETPs) were established to bring together stakeholders from different sectors (industry, academia, administration, SMEs and end users) in relevant research areas to define research and development priorities. Led by the industry, ETPs should develop "Strategic Research Agendas" to address medium to long term technological challenges.

To implement these "Strategic Research Agendas" in areas that are of major interest to European industrial competitiveness, Joint Technology Initiatives (JTIs) have been set up. JTIs support trans-national cooperation and are a new way of realising public-private partnerships at European level in the field of industrial research.
